Summary
Letter from Robert Carter to Samuel Smith, April 13, 1728
Robert Carter writes to King and Queen County resident Samuel Smith, April 13, 1728, concerning Smith's ship, the brigantine Mary,
which has been fully loaded and which is sailing up the river to Smith's home. He reminds Smith to send the necessary certificates concerning the bonds Carter has taken on his behalf.

Apl. the 13th: 1728
Mr. Sam: Smith
Sir --
This Accompanys your Brigantine the
Mary
She hath taken One hundred and fifty two hogsheads and as
Capt: Price Says is well Stowd her Stay here hath bin much longer
then I Expected indeed the weather hath bin prodigiously hard &
unfit for business her diaster She met with coming up hath bin
one Occasion of her delay The Master hath fetchd but 14 hogsheads
all the rest hath bin brought to her Side by my Craft, I hope
desire
you
will take Effectual care to have Certificates returnd that my
Bond may not rise in Judgemt. agst. you nor I. I hope her Stay wth.
you will be but Short the Master Expects not above 2 or 3 days.
Pray God Send her a good Voyage and you
and all Concernd Successfull I am
