Letter from Robert Carter to [John Clayton,] December 12, 1727
Robert Carter writes to the colony's attorney general [John Clayton,] December 12, 1727, to welcome him and his son home from England, and to remind him of a law suit against Colonel Allerton's heir in which Clayton is acting for Carter.

Decr. the 12th: 1727
Sir --
having bin so long your Tennant
and having
now an Opportunity to Town
could not omitt paying you the
Compliment of welcome to Virginia and your Son that came
with you with wishes that you may have met with the Satisfact
ion of finding all things well here,
here is a Ship bound out in two or three days for
Leverpool if you have a desire to write to London . I can undertake the
Safety of your Letters the dangers of the Sea's Excepted I am with a great
deal of Sincerity
