Robert Carter writes to Stafford County resident Richard Foote,September 19, 1720, to enclose copies of two of Micajah Perry'sletters concerning Foote's business to show Foote what he (Carter)has been doing in Foote's behalf, and advising Foote that he probablywill have to go to England "the next Shipping."

Mr. Richd. Foote -- --
I believe You are Impatient to L [earn] some
=thing of Yor. business to lett Yousee I have not bin wanting in
my part, herewith Send You Copys [sic] of two of Mr. Perrys Lettrs.
by wch. You'l See the Expectations I have of a larger Accot
of Yor. Affairin a Short time, as my Intelligence comes
to hand You Shall have Copys of It, I almost think Your
Friends will Genly. be of the opinion there will be a necess
=ity for Yor. goingfor Engd. the next Shipping, but the
next Lettrs. will be Yor. better Guid [sic] I conclude at present

"Corotoman," the name of Robert Carter's home, the county, andthe state have been added for clarity because the draft does notinclude any of them.
[1] Richard Foote (1666-1724) of Stafford County,nephew of Nicholas Hayward, developer of the BrentTown
speculation in the Northern Neck Proprietary. Foote'sfather was one of Hayward's partners, and a successful merchant inLondon. The son lived in the Brent Town tract, and represented theowners in Virginia.
