Gent:
I have already sent Away my Invoice for
the Supply of my Younger Children here I Enclose a small
Invoice for some Selling goods to suit my Stores desiring yr Care in buy:
ing and Shipping them According to my Directions We have had
A very Unseasonable wet Year all along and last night so violent
a rain that hath laid all our low grounds Under water here abouts
if it Hath been general no doubt abundance of Damage is done to
Crops You will hear more of this Hereafter I am

Robert Carter generally used a return address of "Rappahannock" for the river on which he lived rather than "Corotoman," the name of his home, on his correspondence, especially to merchants abroad. The county and colony have been added for clarity to the heading on the draft.
